Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara

Sikhs began settling in Leicester in significant numbers after the Second World War, contributing to the city’s cultural diversity and economic development. The establishment of the city’s first Sikh Gurdwaras in the 1960s marked a pivotal moment in the growth and organization of Leicester’s Sikh community. By 2021, the Sikh population in Leicester had risen to over 15,000, representing approximately 5% of the city’s residents, compared to a national average of 0.9%.

The Sikh community’s contributions are particularly evident during annual Nagar Kirtans (processions). The Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan, held in April, attracts thousands of people from Leicester and the Midlands, with a vibrant procession through the city centre. Another significant event is the Nagar Kirtan in November, celebrating Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Parkash Purab (birth anniversary), which unites the community in faith and joy.

It's very Simple even Britishers also Knows Sikh Kirpan is very much sensitive issue and they tried in the past on many occasions in history but no they can't do this time also Sikh community Worldwide will stand together history should be read properly. And Also Hate Crimes must be stopped at School levels Millions of Brown Black Hindus Asians Muslims Hijab Sikhs Kids faced Racism and Bullying that must be stopped at school level I hope may be Vikram was mentally ill who knows..what happened with him during his school Journey in UK

I've seen several meetings announced different locations. And different organisations sending out messages. I'd it time to create a Thakat in the UK that is one voice.

"I spent 53 years in the UK. I arrived aged 7 and left at 60. In all that time I was never quite 'us' — always 'them.' I always believed we were all us. Today I wrote about what is happening in Southampton, the kirpan debate, and what Sikh history tells us about collective punishment. Please read and share." These killers of the young boy are probably from the fringe minority Khalistanies that are more like radical islamists and backed by them .Both extremely violent . There is a difference between true Sikhs and Khalistani terrorists . As the same can be said about true Muslims & islamists also terrorists. Most Khalistanies have migrated to countries like USA 🇺🇸 Canada 🇨🇦 Australia 🇦🇺 & the UK 🇬🇧 and have taken over most of the Gurudwaras and proudly promote terrorists as saints & martyrs just like ISIS & Alqeada do . These Khalistanies hate there motherland India 🇮🇳 and have aligned with and are backed by there historical enemies especially the ISI the sinister intelligence agency of Pakistan 🇵🇰 These Khalistanies are wolves in sheep's clothing & give the true honourable Sikh & Sikh religon a bad name whom are not associated with them. They go around creating a nuisance & disturb the peace and bully Gurudwaras into submitting to there political agendas by force .They also discredit other peaceful Sikhs sects like the naamdharis & Seva Panthis whom do not follow there agenda & even kill them as they do to Hindus they are very backward minded & uncivilised . True Sikhs believe in Khalsa Raj not Khalistan ! Its times the Government's of the western world took action against such tyrants whom always play the victim card .!!! By the way I have Sikh relations & I also respect and love true Sikhs and no hater and have no political agenda , I just wanted the British public to be aware & differentiate between khalistani pseudo Sikhs & true Sikhs they are like Chalk & cheese ! The Police Officers here also need to be charged with professional negligence and murder!

Battle of Amritsar: Timeline

Operation Bluestar refers to the military invasion that was conducted by the Indian Army on the orders from Indira Gandhi [then PM of India], which commenced with an attack on the Sri Harmandir Sahib Complex. In an attempt to inflict maximum casualties and the demoralisation of the Sikhs, the attack took place on one the busiest days, the Shaheedi Divas of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Unofficial reports suggest that over 5000 civilians were killed during the Operation.

74 Gurdwara Sahibs across Panjab were also attacked by security forces, including Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran where 257 people were killed and Dera Baba Shyam Singh where the Border Security Force looted the Gurdwara Sahib and devotees.

This was a direct assault on the Sikh faith, and marked the beginning of a campaign of genocidal violence against the Sikhs. After the Operation, the army used municipal garbage trucks to transport dead bodies for illegal mass cremations: 25 to 30 people are cremated on each pyre and others were thrown in rivers and canals. The practice of “secret mass cremations” would be used reguarly by the State in the following decade to destroy evidence relating to thousands of Sikhs who had been unlawfully detained, tortured and killed by the government.

Operation Bluestar contributed to the demand for an independent Sikh State- an ongoing cause.
